WitW - Session 50
Victor Kane rose from the pool, covered in shadow and wearing a red-eye mask, and summoned a pair of shadow bears. Horace immediately picked him up in his T-Rex jaws, and in a triple Counterspell, Red-Eye was not able to escape via Misty Step. In his fury, he reached out to Almyre, creating an arcane explosion that knocked her out—bringing Horace out of his dinosaur form.
With the party in a significantly different place power-wise, they were desperate to escape. Jeatz heard ancestral whispers coming from the pool. Horace followed suit and dove in. The pair of them were able to conjure power from the gash at the bottom of the pool. A spirit reached out of the pool and grabbed the unconscious Almyre from the hands of Victor as the cave crumbled around them.
While traveling through the Weave, Almyre found her brother's spirit, who said he was somewhere nearby the old man's power on the Material Plane. Jeatz heard his ancestral spirits saying they were free from the eye that was watching the Weave. They were thrown into a village resembling Widdershins—except it wasn’t quite.
They took their time to look around and discovered that this was what Widdershins used to be—the village miracle that disappeared. Horace and Glitter shared a moment together where he expressed his frustration at Victor getting away.
Laika Greenroot showed up, saying he was the steward of the village, and fed them. Jeatz sacrificed his Feywild shard, allowing Laika to infuse it into a crown that can store a spell. Almyre said she had come to terms with her dad being dead, but Jeatz and Horace told her that the time differential was what had been keeping him alive. Only now, with the Weave Warden dead, was it a risk.
Then, the party strolled around the village and, using the Lens of Time, discovered that Victor Kane was the reason Widdershins disappeared into the Wild. Thanks to Jeatz catching some whispers by the fountain, his magic circle revealed an image from the Wild—Bronto and Genevieve saying that the darkness was being held at bay by Lady Loraema.
The party rested, leveling up.
