WitW - Session 49 pt 1 & 2

The party set off from Laika Greenroot into the forest of Woe. They moved quickly, ambushed by a giant, poisonous toad and a ghost with what appeared to be her children. They find a portal, moving them closer to their goal. Then, they come across a forest sphinx. They bested his riddles and narrowly avoided a fight with the creature, but they bested him with a riddle, and in return, they received information on the whereabouts of a Feywild shard they promptly found. This would allow Jeatz to force Pascal to wild magic surge once a day.

They continued into the forest, finding themselves amongst a rocky outcrop, finding nothing particularly special about this place, but Glitter and Pascal sensed a large and powerful presence. Suddenly, they were enveloped by the earth as a sinkhole swallowed them. They found themselves at the end of a cavern, which led to a lush stream, but it was guarded by a horrible creature.

A giant centipede-like creature lurked over the pool, but in its mouth appeared the face of Victor Kane, eerily preserved despite him being nearly 30 years older than Horace.

The cave itself began to collapse behind them, so the fight was on. The spellcasters were more sheepish in their approach, keeping their distance, but Horace rushed right up to it after Glitter cast invisibility on him. As Horace got closer, he saw what appeared to be Kane searching for something in the pool. Almyre figured this pool was reminiscent of the pool where they found Treetwig in the Wild and would have a direct connection to the Weave.

Horace landed several blows from behind the creature, using his Holy Weapon to deal massive damage. The creature stunned Almyre with its transfixing lights. In a wild turn of events, Jeatz found himself transformed into a nutcracker thanks to a wild magic surge—until he cracked a nut. He frantically searched for one on the ground and in the bag of holding.

Things took a dark turn, however. Kane’s searching in the Weave pool went uninterrupted, and he successfully found the Weave Warden—ripping them away from the protection of the Weave. Now mortal, Victor’s monstrous form easily ripped the sentinel in twain. Kane called out, “Master! Now that I have done what you’ve asked, reward me!”

Horace was low on health, and things weren’t looking great. In signature Almyre fashion, a T-rex appeared—this time Horace was the target of the Polymorph. Jeatz found a nut, and things seemed to turn around. However, the mood soured when Kane slipped out of his centipede body-suit into the pool, rising with a shadowy form and a red-eye mask.
