WitW - Session 54
The party Plane Shifted into the thick of it. Cannons fired by Reevo and Hank thundered overhead at the armored carriage holding the crystallized dragon heart. Mae grabbed the bag of holding that contained the Arcane Reprojector from Tinky. Reevo and Hank ran to assist Mae with installing this crucial hardware. It was up to the party and Orozag to retrieve the heart from the carriage.
Meera provided support from above, casting Bless on the party early in the fight, while they helped Eclipse soldiers battling the Solarian squads. Glitter, despite her tiny frame, manned one of the guns at the front of the ship, firing down at the Solarian guard—but with little success. Meanwhile, Orozag swung away at the Solarian outside the warehouse, providing much-needed support. Jeatz quickly discovered that the carriage was surrounded by an anti-magic field when his Disintegrate spell fizzled.
Wyvern-riding Solarians descended on the party and their Eclipse allies. With the aid of the wyverns, the Solarian knights tore through their allies. Horace used his ring to Fey Step atop a wyvern. Riding it high into the air, he managed to somewhat tame the beast rather than be thrown off. He returned to the battlefield, unsure whether he would see his newfound friend again. He used the Thunder Step stored in the crown to obliterate enemy soldiers as he crashed down on them.
As Jeatz and Almyre repeatedly assaulted the Solarians with Fireballs, they were struck back with massive lightning damage as the soldiers retaliated. They weathered the assault, however, thanks to some magical healing. Jeatz's wild magic also caused him to glow with a dim blue light. Despite the death of many Eclipse allies, the party managed to clear out the Solarian foot soldiers and—with Orozag’s help—destroyed the armored carriage. Almyre, being the last to approach, grabbed the dragon heart but was unable to find the source of the anti-magic field.
With the Arcane Reprojector installed and the dragon heart aboard the ship, they took off. As they rose above Marshven, they looked back to see more Wyvern Knights following them into the sky.
