WitW - Session 55
The airship rose into the sky, chased by more wyvern knights—and a blue dragon. The party took a moment to breathe before the winged beasts arrived. They and their allies aimed the cannons at the incoming Solarians as they approached. Once they closed in, Almyre successfully stunned a wyvern with Momentary Stasis, sending it plummeting nearly to the ground and taking it out of the fight entirely.
With fewer enemies to deal with for now, the party focused on the Solarian first, though they struggled to land hits initially. Unfortunately, things went from bad to worse as the blue dragon and its cleric rider landed on the ship, blasting it with lightning breath and causing major damage. The attack temporarily blinded everyone on board, and the ship's systems malfunctioned, creating a puff of choking smoke.
Orozag held his own, taking on one of the wyverns solo, while the party dealt with the others. Glitter wasn’t so lucky—she was nearly killed but managed to fly to Horace for safety.
Horace became the tank of the day, going toe to toe with the massive dragon, its cleric, and a wyvern. The cleric, however, proved underwhelming; Horace shoved her off the ship with ease, taking her out of the battle entirely. This enraged the dragon, furious that his allies were such weaklings.
Jeatz took a beating while fighting a wyvern and slipped below deck, out of sight. From there, he managed to cast a few Chaos Bolts, but—true to form—he failed his Wild Magic save and transformed into a swan. Orozag came below deck for cover and bore witness to Jeatz diving into a bucket of piss to revert the change.
The party was low on health and spell slots, and even with their allies' help, things weren't looking good. Hank emerged from managing the ship to serve as a distraction, giving Horace the opening to deal significant damage to the dragon. Hank went down immediately afterward but was quickly revived by Mae, who rifled through his belongings and found a potion. Almyre once again hit the same wyvern with Momentary Stasis, sending it crashing to the ground, splattering on impact.
The dragon, unwilling to stick around for a losing battle, fled the ship, badly wounded, shouting that he would find King Melchior. The remaining wyvern riders were slain in quick succession, and their wyverns fled as well.
The party took a breath and earned two level-ups from their very long day across multiple planes.
