WitW - Session 57
The party took off from their roost in the mountain and shot toward the top of the tower. They supercharged the Arcane Reprojector to fly past the patrolling wyverns. Somehow, Horace bumbled his way through advising the magicians on how to operate the Reprojector.
The party jumped off the ship with Mae and Orozag in tow. The huge throne room held a massive orb, clearly the source of Melchior's power. The orb shot a beam of protection at Melchior, who sat mostly motionless in his throne. In turn, magical anchors protected the orb.
Almyre started out by summoning an earth elemental and promptly lost control of it. The orb and high priestesses bore down upon them, putting them on the back foot early. However, Jeatz blasted the earth elemental with thunder damage, and a high priestess finished it off.
They took out half the anchors quickly, but struggled to reach the rest—at least until Almyre cast Mass Suggestion and turned half of the Solarian to their side, where they set off to destroy the anchors.
Jeatz thunderstepped around the throne room while throwing ass, including at Melchior. Thanks to Glitter's healing, he was barely able to escape death. Orozag, Mae, and Glitter all held their own, showing out and standing strong in the face of the intense magical bursts from the high priestesses.
Jeatz failed a wild magic surge yet again and chatted with a few beans rattling around in the bag. The poor beans were fed to Pascal for failing to answer their 20 Questions game correctly.
Horace readied the corrupted dragon heart as a unit of Solarian showed up unexpectedly at the elevator, but he could not use it. The charmed Solarian destroyed the final anchor, and Jeatz's held Chaos Bolt killed the king. In the next moment, Ariazel appeared, grabbing the necklace off the now-dead king.
Ariazel pontificated for a moment, saying Exurbia could not have expected him to die and reconstitute himself in the Wild, circumventing her restriction on him never returning there. He then shattered the orb, releasing the pent-up fey energy that had been stored inside it. It crumbled the tower instantly.
Before the blast could consume the party, however, the familiar voice of Amir greeted them as he wrapped them in a protective field.
