WitW - Session 60

The Undead Commander flung himself and his mount over the wall, rushing toward Lord Cyanin. The orc’s eyes flashed red, confirming the party’s suspicions that he was a minion of Ariazel. The party knew it was imperative the commander not steal a third fey heart, or it would become trivial for Ariazel to destroy the entire plane of existence.

The electric eel lingered by the wall, distracting Orozag and Horace with blasts of lightning breath and repeated slashes. From above, Almyre conjured a fire elemental to stall the commander. Unfazed, the orc pressed forward toward Lord Cyanin. In a flash of shadow, he brought the lord to his knees. Orozag and Horace managed to slay the eel and sprinted toward the throne room as fast as they could.

Jeatz dimension doored across the battlefield into the throne room, but it was already too late. The commander turned to shadow, passed through both Jeatz and Lord Cyanin, and ripped the fey heart from the lord’s chest, clutching it in his hand. In desperation, Jeatz cast Sunburst, but the orc withstood it. Unexpectedly, Horace unleashed his own Sunburst, stored within the crown. The blast dropped Jeatz, but it was worth it—the undead commander disintegrated, leaving the heart behind.

The party quickly reunited Lord Cyanin with his heart. In a nerve-wracking ritual, Almyre opened his chest and restored it to its rightful place. Cyanin awoke, regaining his composure almost immediately and returning to his usual belligerent self.

The group then turned to Mae, who was in far worse condition than Jeatz. They managed to stabilize her somewhat, and Jeatz swore he would not let her die here. They realized they needed to meet with the goddess Exurbia to remove the changeling’s curse. Cyanin explained that to summon the goddess, all the fey hearts would need to be joined together. The party planned their next move. They still didn’t feel powerful enough to take on Victor Kane, and Lord Anar’s clock was ticking.

They hurried to the Summer Court, where Almyre’s cousin Jahir greeted them. He shared that a human had arrived unexpectedly the other day and offered healing to those in need. Sadly, he also revealed that Almyre’s grandmother had perished while trying to contain the Sands of Time, giving all of herself in the effort. Almyre rushed to see her and was granted a vision: long ago, in a gathering of all Fey Lords and Ladies, they had debated how to handle the traitorous Lord of Night. They decided the fifth fey heart would be split apart, a fragment hidden within each of their own.
